ITV, 9pm Actress Nicola Walker is fast becoming the Olivia Colman of 2015 – she’s rarely been off our screens this past year and rightly so because it’s her brilliant portrayal of DCI Cassie Stuart that is adding some serious heft to this already gripping drama.
With the concrete-embedded skeleton found in the cellar now identified as that of 17-year-old Jimmy Sullivan, DCI Cassie and her colleague DS Sunny Khan begin to track down the names found in Jimmy’s diary.
As her team gets to work, Cassie heads to Liverpool to meet Jimmy’s mum Maureen. It’s a heartbreaking scene as Maureen, now an old woman, learns that the body is that of her only child who vanished 39 years ago.
Meanwhile, as news of the identification starts to circulate, there are four people feeling decidedly jittery.
Sir Phillip Cross, formerly known as “Frankie C” (Trevor Eve), shows he has a thoroughly vile and ruthless side, Father Rob makes a panicked late-night call from a phone box and wheelchairbound Eric is sent into a spin.
As for Lizzie Wilton, aka “Beth” the kindly neighbour, we’re about to discover she’s been hiding a very sinister past...
