Tories don’t care about low wages
It’s not by accident that six million workers are being forced to survive on pay below the Living Wage (Mirror, Oct 13). This is an unacceptable figure and is bound to rise dramatically when the cuts to tax credits take effect. Foodbanks will not be able to cope with the demand.
Osborne’s plan to feebly ask employers to pay decent wages is a joke. We all know most bosses intend to keep employees on low pay because it means more profit for them.
Britain is the sixth richest country in the world, so there ought to be enough cake for everybody.
But it seems Osborne’s friends in the City are taking it all while the workers receive only the crumbs. Bill Cook, Teignmouth, Devon
