CRYING OUT FOR HOMES

-

# Why is it that Prime Minister David Cameron and his supporters are so opposed to building no-frills, basic council houses? What planet do these politicians live on where they can’t see the desperate need for this type of housing for people who have no chance of buying a house?

I feel very sorry for people on low incomes who can’t afford a mortgage. Mr Cameron talks passionately about building starter homes to enable people to get on the first rung of the housing ladder, but how will they get a mortgage to buy one of these places?

I can remember the time when banks gave out 100% mortgages and the interest rate remained low, but we still needed council houses. Give these people a chance, Mr Cameron, and, what’s more, make it clearer in your proposals for the future what you intend to do. Janice Weightman, Rugeley, Staffs
