Is Eagles no show in Qipco?

- BY

BOOKIES fear a QIPCO British Champions Day “no show” from Gleneagles, who was given the cold shoulder by punters yesterday.

Money flooded in for Queen Elizabeth II Stakes rival Solow on the back of the news Aidan O’Brien will walk the course at Ascot tomorrow evening before committing the dual 2,000 Guineas hero to the one-mile Group 1 test.

But Gleneagles will swerve the glittering card in favour of a crack at the Breeders’ Cup Classic in 16 days time — if the market is any guide.

As French raider Solow hardened to 4-6 favourite, Gleneagles can now be backed at 7-2.

Ladbrokes’ David Williams — the Magic Sign cut Solow to 4-5, pushing Gleneagles out to 11-4 — said: “Punters are once again giving Gleneagles a wide berth.

“He has drifted across the board and, with the fact Solow has come in for such strong support suggests, sadly, that another no show from the O’Brien colt could be on the cards.”

TOP novice chase prospect Cyrus Darius will miss the rest of the season with a tendon injury, trainer Malcolm Jefferson reported yesterday.

The gelding struggled to make a winning chase debut at Perth last month and was found to have lost a shoe in the race.
