Workaholic Chris Evans will be reprising his role as the king of Friday night fun, whi l e continuing to present his daily breakfast slot for Radio 2 and also getting to grips with his new job as the host of T Top Gear which returns to the BBC in the spring. Phew!

We can only hope he’s got an army of PAs to juggle a work schedule that would leave most of us hankering for a stiff drink and a lie down.

Evans has always been able to draw the biggest names to his anarchic den of silliness and tonight he’ll be kicking off the live show with two of Britain’s biggest bands when U2 and Take That both swoop in to perform and have a natter.

We presume a private jet will be lined up as Bono and his boys will be coming straight from Antwerp before whizzing to Cologne for another gig. Nice of them to drop in!

Meanwhile, actor and comedian Steve Coogan will also be pulling up a perch for some chat along with 21-year-old actress Saoirse Ronan – pronounced Sir-Shah in case you were wondering – star of Atonement and The Lovely Bones, who’s about to hit the big screen in new movie Brooklyn.

As well as celebrity chit chat there will be a performance from punk duo, Slaves.

The series will run until Christmas, but make the most of it, as Evans will have to wave goodbye when his duties with Top Gear rev up. As the man himself says, “This is the long goodbye.”
