BBC’S HALL MUST FIGHT
# I think it is time Tony Hall, director general of the BBC, showed some courage and leadership by standing up to Government bullies such as Culture Secretary John Whittingdale.
Lord Hall is allowing the Government to walk all over the BBC and attack it without a word of protest or even a whimper. Does he not think the future of the BBC as a world-class broadcaster is worth fighting for?
For God’s sake, Hall, show some spirit! Norman Hanson Bingham, Notts # As a pensioner I disagree that the Living Wage should be set at £10 per hour (#madeuthink, Oct 14). If wages were to rise I wouldn’t get an increase in my pension but I would suffer the higher prices if workers received a minimum of £10 per hour.
There should be a phased increase for both workers and pensioners towards that goal. David J Foulis Liverpool
# It was so good to see The Mirror devote almost two pages to the marriage of Amanda Fyfe, the 2ft 8in bride with osteogenesis, and her husband Steven who is 6ft 1in (Mirror, Oct 13).
Like any other couple they will encounter difficulties, but they have been together long enough to have a six-year-old son, Aidan. I wish them the very best. Brian Davies, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk # I agree with Melanie Ingleton (#madeuthink, Oct 15), that the national anthem should be about the country and not the monarchy. Not everyone is a royalist, so why should we sing it? Sara Moor, Stockport Gtr Manchester
