MOYES IS BIG NOISE

-

TIM SHERWOOD accepts he is fighting to save his job as Aston Villa boss – but is still smarting at the club’s summer transfer business.

Villa owner Randy Lerner is likely to pull the trigger if the club hierarchy cannot see a rapid improvement in the performances which have left them stuck in the relegation zone.

But it is understood Sherwood has also voiced his frustrations about not being ing able to land his prime targets.

Under-pressure Sherwood has privately insisted that he believed he had a deal in place for Aaron Lennon – only for Everton to signn him from Tottenham. That was because Villa voiced concerns about signing Lennon and wanted to go in a different direction.

The cash was there as they ended up paying big money in terms of transfer fees and wages, although the signings have largely struggled.

It is understood Sherwood has made his feelings known to his bosses, including chief executive Tom Fox, as they went for overseas signings who lacked Premier League experience. Sherwood wanted the FROM BACK PAGE short spell at Manchester United, however, his stock remains high in England after Moyes (left) enjoyed a sustained period of success with Everton.

Villa’s non-executive director General Charles Krulak has denied Sherwood will be axed if the club’s losing streak continues at Chelsea tomorrow and at home to Swansea next week.

But American owner Randy Lerner is dreading another relegation battle for the 18th-placed club.

Villa’s solitary Premier League win of the campaign came away at Bournemouth on the opening Saturday.
