SON CAN’T SHINE FOR ANOTHER 3 WEEKS

- BY

MAURICIO POCHETTINO has confirmed £22million forward Heung-Min Son will be out for at least another three weeks.

The South Korea international scored three goals in five appearances following his summer move from Bayer Leverkusen.

But he was taken off 77 minutes into the 4-1 win over Manchester City on September 26 and has remained on the sidelines since with foot trouble.

In 2010, while at Hamburg, Son was out for three months after breaking a foot in a friendly.

Spurs have still yet to confirm the exact nature of the 23-year-old’s latest setback but Pochettino said: “Maybe in a few weeks he’ll be back. One or two or three.

“But every injury is different and we need to assess day by day.”

Harry Kane will continue to spearhead the attack when Liverpool visit tomorrow.

Tottenham remain the only club unbeaten in the Premier League since the opening weekend of the season.

But they are without several key players. Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb are still battling injuries, while influential midfield screen Eric Dier is suspended for collecting five yellow cards.

But Pochettino (above with Son) added: “We have a big squad. I trust all the players and sometimes you need to pick the best player for the right game.

“You always want all the players fit and available. But this is football and we need to accept the situation.”

The Spurs boss is expecting to face a Liverpool side hugely motivated by Jurgen Klopp’s arrival at Anfield.

“We need to have the same mental level because we expect Liverpool’s players will have 200 per cent commitment and will be excited to play against us,” said the Argentinian.

“You always want to impress a new manager, to give your best, but it’s not a worry for me.

“We need to stay at the same mental level to try to match their energy and play our way. We know how we need to play and we need to do our jobs.

“Our mentality is to try to win the game.”
