Time to support unloved Everton

TASTY TOFFEES LOOK SO SWEET

-

WHAT on earth have Everton done wrong?

Let’s see. So far this season they’ve crushed Chelsea and Southampton.

They pulled off arguably the best comeback of the season so far, coming from two goals down at West Brom.

Oh yes – and they saw off Brendan Rodgers.

But simply the reputation attached to the name Manchester United is such that Everton are priced out with the washing at 23/10.

That’s right, more than 2/1 for a home side facing a United team blown away in barely 20 minutes at the Emirates a fortnight ago.

Everton have had a tough-looking run of early season fixtures, but they’ve impressed us.

Look at the spinep of the team, as all TV pundits love to say. The super-solid Tim Howard looks as good as ever between the sticks.

John Stones’ brilliant per formances in the centre of defence week after week must make everyone at Chelsea weep.p Ross Barkley (above, left) is now starting to show that the early hype about him is truly justified. And up front, Romelu Lukaku is always a handful – and one of the few players to score a hat-trick against United.

Wayne Rooney’s patchy scoring record every time he pitches up at Goodison is another reason we see a home win as value.

EVERTON may be friendless with the bookies but we’ll take them at 23/10 with 888sport.com.

Another match weekend, and more positive noises are

coming out of the Newcastle camp. But, sadly, the stats are shouting out the simple truth that the Magpies are a struggling team.

They’ve won once in 19 games – and the arrival of counter-attacking Norwich won’t help matters.

The Canaries won comfortably on their last visit to the North East – a 3-1 victory over Sunderland as well as deserved draws at Liverpool and West Ham ( left).

The 19/10 on an away win is crying out to be backed with Paddy Power.
