Trans woman reports man for saying ‘he’
A TORY councillor has reported a Labour opponent to the police for referring to her as “he” and “him” when a meeting became heated.
Transgender Zoe KirkRobinson, 35, accused Guy Harkin of a hate crime.
She tweeted: “Cllr Harkin repeatedly misgendered me, while going off on a personal attack against me.”
Former mayor Harkin, 69, a retired lecturer, insists it was a slip of the tongue and did not happen repeatedly.
He said: “I immediately offered to apologise. There is not a homophobic or any phobic bone in my body.”
Cllr Kirk-Robinson, an LGBT campaigner and hate crime ambassador, said Bolton council and Greater Manchester Police were investigating the incident.
She added: “It hurt a lot. The guy has never met me as a male. I transitioned more than 10 years ago.”
