‘OAP hour’ in supermarket

-

A SLOW Shopping session for elderly or vulnerable customers is being offered by a store in a weekly trial.

Staff will help customers with their shopping, with chairs at the end of aisles and free snacks on offer.

The sessions will run on Tuesdays from 1pm to 3pm at Sainsbury’s in Gosforth, Newcastle. Katherine Vero, who came up with the Slow Shopping idea after her mother developed dementia, said: “I hope others follow.”

An Asda in Manchester introduced a “quiet hour” for autistic and disabled shoppers earlier this year.
