For looking after your teeth

-

Brush your teeth (and tongue and gums very gently) twice a day for two minutes. Wait at least half an hour after eating so you won’t damage tooth enamel which is temporarily softened after eating.

Don’t rinse, so some toothpaste is left in your mouth to carry on working on your teeth.

Floss daily to remove food particles from between your teeth.

Brushing only covers 60% of the surface area. I’m a big fan of small, interdental brushes for cleaning the gaps between teeth.

OOOOSee your dentist if you have inflamed or bleeding gums, bad breath, an unpleasant taste in your mouth, or aching gums and teeth after eating hot or cold food. Visit your dentist and hygienist every six months. Don’t smoke – it reduces the amount of oxygen in your bloodstream, slowing down the healing of infected gums. People who smoke are more likely to lose their teeth! Change your toothbrush every three months, if not sooner.
