Friend fails to get shirty over colour clash

-

HIGH on every discerning football fan’s list of pet hates is needless changes of strip that serve only to confuse instead of providing clarity for players and officials.

Referee Kevin Friend (left), who is no friend of Watford supporters anyway, failed his first test before exercising the free whistle that came with his takeaway Happy Meal on Saturday.

Arsenal should not have been allowed to wear their new midnight-blue away kit, with its swathes of hi-viz yellow, an obvious clash with the home side’s shirts (right).

The Gunners’ training ground is only 15 minutes’ drive from Vicarage Road. Friend should have ordered them to send someone to pick up their traditional red-and-white colours, which would have clashed with nothing.
