HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN

Wenger’s ready to send Wilshere out on LOAN to kick-start career

- BY JOHN CROSS

ARSENE WENGER is prepared to let Jack Wilshere go out on loan in an effort to rejuvenate his career.

Wilshere has held crunch talks with Arsenal and expressed his fears about a lack of playing time which resulted in him being axed from the England squad.

Gunners boss Wenger (above) still sees the midfielder as central to his long-term plans but is considering loaning him out to help him get back to his best. It is certain to alert a host of

top Premier League clubs although Arsenal are unlikely to sanction a move to a top-four rival.

That could open the door to a move to Italy or Spain. It is understood that Valencia made an effort to sign him on loan last season when Gary Neville was in charge.

Wilshere, 24, has played just 37 minutes as a substitute this season and struggled to get back into the team last term after missing most of the campaign with a broken leg.

He did go to the Euros with England but was not fully fit and is concerned after £30million signing Granit Xhaka pushed him further down the pecking order. It is not certain Arsenal will do a deal in time or find the right offer with tomorrow’s 11pm transfer deadline looming.

But the intention is there with the loan being actively discussed between Arsenal, Wilshere and the player’s advisers. There is no suggestion of a permanent move.

Arsenal are also ready to loan out Calum Chambers with Middlesbrough hoping to sign the 21-year-old on a year-long deal.
