Obama, actors and church in united protest
AMERICA united to condemn Donald Trump with ex-President Barack Obama, Hollywood stars, and the church speaking out against the Muslim ban.
President Obama welcomed protests, which he said are “exactly what we expect to see when American values are at stake”.
His statement yesterday said: “The President fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their faith or religion.”
Stars at the Screen Actors Guild Awards delivered speech after speech against the ban.
Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the daughter of an immigrant, said “Because I love this country, I am horrified by its blemishes. And this immigrant ban is a blemish, and it is un-American.”
Bishop Joe Vasquez, of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, said: “We believe in assisting all, regardless of their religious beliefs.”
