FEDERER PLANS ANOTHER WIMBLEDON PARTY

- FROM NEIL McLEMAN in Melbourne

ROGER FEDERER danced his way until dawn after his stunning Australian Open triumph – and then targeted another celebration at Wimbledon this summer.

The Swiss superstar lived up to his promise to party like a rock legend following his five-year wait for his 18th Grand Slam.

Federer, now 35 with four children, said: “We did party like rock stars. We made it home by sunrise – I went to sleep at 8am. Am I a good dancer? I don’t know. I think you should ask other people. I think I’m a fun dancer.”

Federer said he had been inundated with messages of congratulations after becoming the second-oldest man to win a Grand Slam.

“I really feel that a lot of people are happy for me,” he said. “What makes me most happy is when I see my friends and family so happy – when I saw them celebrating it really made it emotional.”

Federer, who will now take time off before returning to action in Dubai next month, reckons his best chance of another Slam will be on the grass in SW19 this summer.

“Wimbledon? I know I have a better shot there but let’s enjoy this one first,” he added.

Swedish legend Mats Wilander said: “What have we learned from this Australian Open? That Roger Federer is the best player of all time.

“I can’t wait to see him at Wimbledon later this year.”
