LEO GIVES AN ULL-TIMATUM
LEONARDO ULLOA has done a Dimitri Payet and gone on strike in an attempt to quit champions Leicester.
The furious striker accused boss Claudio Ranieri of “betraying” him in a Twitter blast after City turned down a bid from Sunderland.
The 30-year-old, who scored six goals last term to help Leicester to the title, has been angered over his lack of starts this term and a failure to get a lucrative new deal.
Now Ranieri’s insistence that he must stay has tipped the Argentinian over the edge.
He tweeted: “I feel betrayed by Ranieri and let down by the club. I will not play again for them.”
France star Payet demanded to leave West Ham earlier this month to push through a return to Marseille.
Sunderland’s latest bid of £5million rising to £7m for Ulloa has been rejected by the Foxes, with insiders vowing they will not sell to a relegation rival.
Ranieri has already flogged squad men Jeffrey Schlupp and Luis Hernandez to Crystal Palace and Malaga, respectively.
But he does not want the headache of having to replace Ulloa — competing to start with Jamie Vardy, Islam Slimani and Shinji Okazaki — before the transfer window shuts.
Ranieri said: “Ulloa isn’t happy because he hasn’t played and I can understand him.
“But the club doesn’t want to sell him.
“I want Leo here and I hope he can understand my position.”
