Poch: My fight club won’t crack again

- BY DARREN LEWIS

MAURICIO POCHETTINO says his battle-hardened Spurs team will not collapse again in their bid to return to the Champions League.

The Argentine (right), whose title-chasers were pipped to second spot by Arsenal last term, said: “We thought too much about the summer, the

Euros, everything else, and lost a little bit of focus. Now the focus is to keep fighting.”

Spurs go to Burnley today 10 points behind leaders Chelsea and two points ahead of third-placed Manchester City.

Last season, Pochettino’s men picked up just two points from their final four games of the season.

They were held by West Brom and Chelsea, beaten at home by Southampton, and crushed away to already relegated Newcastle in their final four matches.

But Pochettino (above) maintains he has toughened up his young side and that they are now no longer a soft touch.

“I have tried to remind them football is not only when you have the ball,” he added. “Football is also when you do not have the ball.

“To fight, to press, to challenge with your opponent. Not wait and be passive.

“We need to be aggressive and proactive, and to try to challenge the opponent. That is how we are in every single training session – playing football but fighting too.”
