It doesn’t take much energy to save on fuel bills

It’s easy to make big savings on your gas and electricity... cut your costs now

-

The prices we pay for energy are sky high – they have doubled in the past 10 years. In fact, for most households, gas and electricity make up the biggest regular bill, costing us more than £1,000 a year. Yet millions of people are paying way over the odds.

There are those who simply languish on their supplier’s standard tariff – usually the most expensive and the one we should all avoid – not realising that this is the most costly option.

Often they naively believe their energy firm will be looking after them as they are a loyal long-term customer. Shockingly, two thirds of households are sat on their supplier’s standard tariff and are often paying £200 to £300 a year more than the cheapest deals available.

It’s madness to pay more than you need to for something basic like energy.

After all, you are not getting a better quality of energy by paying more.

Your lights won’t burn brighter and the heating won’t be more powerful – you are simply wasting your cash.

So stop putting too much cash in the coffers of the big energy firms – it only takes three simple steps to jump ship and switch on to big savings. Mark Todd, founder of price comparison service energyhelpline, says: “Customers really have nothing to lose by switching energy and everything to gain. “You get cheaper energy and then money back in your pocket. “The suppliers make huge profits from customers not switching.

“Don’t make yourself skint subsidising them. Take some money from their big pockets and put it back in yours.” Figures from energy watchdog Ofgem show that people can save £325 a year by switching. Not a bad amount when it can take just five minutes to switch online using a price comparison service.
