DYCHE IS NOT KEANE TO CASH IN

- BY MIKE WHALLEY

SEAN DYCHE has warned Manchester United that they will have to wait 12 months to sign Michael Keane – unless they stump up enough cash.

The Burnley manager insists that he would rather let his England centre-back leave for nothing at the end of his contract than sell him on the cheap this summer.

Keane (above) has just over 12 months to run on his deal at Turf Moor, and has refused to sign a new one.

United, who visit Turf Moor tomorrow, are among a host of Premier League clubs looking to buy Keane, who broke into the England team as he made his debut against Germany last month. But Dyche says that if he does not get the deal he wants, then he will keep the £25million-rated defender for next season and allow him to run down his contract.

He argued that the Clarets do not need the money from a big sale, even though Keane’s value has risen sharply since he left Old Trafford for Turf Moor in a £2m deal in January 2015.

The Burnley boss said: “We’re in a great position, if that came around. That’s where the club has changed. It would have to be appropriate for all parties.”

Dyche added that Keane and his representatives are fully aware that is Burnley’s position.

He added: “I’m open and honest with the players.

“We will look at any offer and speak to the relevant people. If it doesn’t fit, crack on.

“It’s good in one way to have your players getting recognised by bigger clubs.”
