Trainer: I back ‘old’ Wladimir
Froch warns Joshua he must dig deeper than ever before
WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO’S trainer Johnathon Banks hopes he does not have another bad feeling before Saturday’s showdown against Anthony Joshua.
Banks has revealed it struck him that Klitschko would lose to Tyson Fury three days before the huge upset in Dusseldorf in November 2015.
“I knew right away that Wladimir would lose,” said Banks. “You can’t say when the feeling comes, but when it hit me about Fury and Wladimir, I had it in my head the whole time.
“I had a feeling, before the fight, it wasn’t going to be our night. There’s nothing you can do to change that.”
Banks claims Klitschko lost to Fury because he had an off-night and says Joshua would be foolish to believe he would have another one at Wembley because he is now 41.
Banks recalls how wrong everyone was when they thought Muhammad Ali and then George Foreman were too old to regain the world heavyweight title.
“George Foreman took what Muhammad Ali did to him and did the exact same thing to Michael Moorer. There’s something about an old man who won’t back down from a fight because there’s something he knows that the young guy doesn’t – and he’s going to succeed.
“That’s why Wladimir will beat this guy.”
