PRINCE Harry has been reunited with a terminally ill boy who he first bonded with at an event last year.

He paid a surprise visit to Ollie Carroll, six, in hospital – and gave him a cuddle that would have made his caring mum Diana proud. She was photographed hugging a young cancer sufferer in an almost identical pose on a trip to India more than 20 years ago.

Harry first met the brave youngster at the WellChild Awards last October.

This visit he spent an hour with Ollie, his sister Amelia, three, and their parents, Lucy and Mike, at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London.

Ollie and Amelia – who have two older siblings – from Poynton in Cheshire, both have a rare genetic condition called late-infantile Batten disease.

As they get older, they will lose their speech, mobility and eyesight, and are unlikely to live past age 12.

But the pair are taking part in the trial of a drug, which it is hoped will slow the disease’s progression.

Lucy said: “For an hour, Prince Harry sat with us talking and playing with our children, laughing and making memories. The very thing our children want the most – to be happy and having fun.

“The love, support and laughter within that treatment room will stay with us for ever.

“From the bottom of our hearts, we thank Prince Harry for his support, time and kindness towards our family.” Last month, Ollie met his music idol, Ed Sheeran before his concert in Manchester. The pop star took to the stage wearing a red band promoting the Ollie’s Army campaign to increase awareness of Battens, and raise funds.
