WE’RE TOO GOOD TO GO DOWN

Swansea star Ki tempts fate by claiming they are the quality side in the dreaded drop zone

KI SUNG-YUENG says Swansea are too good to drop into the Championship.

Paul Clement’s men are a point clear of the relegation zone with two games to go.

They travel to Ki’s old club Sunderland on Saturday and end the season at home to West Brom.

South Korea skipper Ki said: “What we want to achieve this season is massive. We have great players and great quality in this team. We can’t play in the Championship.

“For Wales, there’s great pride at stake and for my career I don’t want to be relegated. I want to stay in the Premier League next year.

“Every game is a World Cup final. In the last two matches we have showed we can play under big pressure. The team spirit is strong and hopefully we can keep going.”

The relegation battle is set to go down to the wire. Sunderland and Middlesbrough are both down, with either Hull, Swansea or even Crystal Palace

joining them. Clement (below) has taken his side a point and a place above the Tigers after last Saturday’s 1-0 win over Everton. Ki expects the trip to Sunderland to be tougher than playing the Toffees. He said: “We also have pressure, it’s not only Hull.

“They play against Palace. Both teams have to get a result in that one, so it’s going to be a big game.

“I was at Sunderland for one year. I have great memories of the club, but they have already gone and all I have to do is help Swansea get three points so we can stay in the league.

“Sunderland have no pressure and they will try to win for the fans and their pride. It’s going to be a more difficult game than it was against Everton.”
