EUTHANASIA NO SOLUTION
# I don’t agree with Barbara Lavelle, who says assisted dying should be legalised (Madeuthink, May 9).
The main problem politicians have with legislating euthanasia for the terminally ill is that vulnerable human beings could very well end up being “put to sleep” like a pet abandoned by its owners because they can no longer care for it.
Humans cannot be equated with animals. I think calls for assisted dying take away from our humanity and would fail to protect the sick and old. David Winterbottom, Oldham, Gtr Manchester

On reading Roger Grant (Madeuthink, May 9), I really can’t understand why any member of our community would vote for a party which criminalised hardworking miners, glorified “scabs” and was hellbent on destroying our way of life.
It is tantamount to resurrecting Thatcher to finish the job she set out to do. Unlike Roger Grant, I will be voting Labour and encouraging others to do so. JH Thomson, Boltonon-Dearne, South Yorks #
I was really angry and upset to see the article in the Mirror about the lion tamer being attacked by the lion in France (May 10).
I had hoped we would have seen the last of circuses using animals.
If people stopped going, these disgusting events would die out.
I don’t know how they can watch such torment. Debbie Richens, South East London
