BILIC: OUR AIM IS TO WRECK YOUR SEASON

- BY NEIL McLEMAN

SLAVEN BILIC claims Liverpool’s season will be a “failure” if Jurgen Klopp’s side do not finish in the top four.

And after beating Tottenham in their last home game, the Irons boss (right) promised his injury-hit Hammers will try to ruin another club’s season at the London Stadium tomorrow.

A West Ham win or a draw will take Liverpool Champion’s League fate out of their hands after sitting in the top four for most of the campaign.

And Bilic said: “Every league is difficult of course, but you have six clubs or teams that are expecting to win the title and for them not to get in the Champions League, it’s a failure of course. So for Liverpool, they are a big club and they have been there for the whole season.

“I think they will be very disappointed if they don’t make it, but then if they make it, they will definitely present it as a massive achievement, which it is in this kind of league.”

West Ham guaranteed their Premier League survival by ending Spurs’ title hopes and Bilic added: “We are preparing and planning to do something similar, there are a lot of similarities between those two sides.

“It’s a big game for them, even bigger than for Spurs. It’s in their hands. I am expecting the same determination and commitment and team work from us, with one difference, a positive one that you feel the pressure because you want to win every game, but you don’t have that negative pressure.

“That burden is off. We can switch off the radios – we don’t have to watch the Saturday games praying or hoping or with rosemary in our hands.

“That’s a positive thing. So I am expecting us to be even better than we were against Spurs.

“But it is not the situation we are safe now and already on holiday.

“I told them already, ‘It’s Liverpool at home, it’s our last home game of the season – it can’t be any bigger’.”

Bilic confirmed Andy Carroll’s groin injury will rule him out for the rest of the season, but the head coach said he will “never give up” on the England striker.
