I’LL QUIT SCARLETS ON A HIGH, VOWS LIAM

Munster v Scarlets Pro 12 final, Dublin 6.15pm

LIONS star Liam Williams is dreaming of PRO12 title glory in his final game for Scarlets.

Williams will join English giants Saracens next season, but wants his time in Wales to end on a high when he takes on Munster in this afternoon’s final at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

He said: “To lift the trophy would mean the world. I’ve been at Scarlets for six years and the final is going to be huge.

“If we actually go out there and win the PRO12, it couldn’t get any better for me. Six years is a long, long time, and I’m excited for the game. I’m sure the whole of the squad is as well.”

Scarlets are underdogs against Munster but, in Williams, they have a Lion ready to roar in their ranks.

The 26-year-old will take on New Zealand this summer, and claiming his team’s first silverware since 2004 would be an ideal way to warm up for facing the All Blacks.

“In the past couple of weeks we have beaten Ospreys at home and we’ve just been to Leinster and beaten them as well,” said a bullish Williams (below).

“Last weekend every single part of our game was outstanding. We’ve been back in this week and the energy is up. “The mood is really good and all the boys are enjoying a laugh and a joke. They have a really big pack and a couple of sharp backs but, as long as we get our own house in order, we are really looking forward to the challenge.

“I’m going to go out there on Saturday and give it my all. Hopefully I can end on a high.”
