DONALD Trump has launched a fresh Twitter tirade against Sadiq Khan, after earlier twisting the London Mayor’s assurance that there was “no reason to be alarmed” about seeing extra armed police on the streets.

Mr Khan refused to react, with his spokesman saying: “He has more important things to do than respond to Donald Trump’s ill-informed tweet.”

The US President yesterday posted: “Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his ‘no reason to be alarmed’ statement. MSM [mainstream media] is working hard to sell it!”

Mr Khan’s representative yesterday said: “The mayor is focused on dealing with Saturday’s horrific attack.”

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio blasted Trump, calling the President’s attack on Mr Khan “unacceptable.”

But Theresa May yesterday refused to criticise Mr Trump. The PM said: “I think Sadiq Khan is doing a good job and it is wrong to say anything else.”

Mr Khan had earlier said: “Londoners will see an increased police presence – no reason to be alarmed.” And the US President had tweeted: “At least 7 dead and 48 wounded and Mayor of London says there is ‘no reason to be alarmed!” WEST Midlands Police have launched an investigation after confidential, highly classified documents were stolen from a car used by its head of counter terrorism.

An unmarked vehicle used by Assistant Chief Constable Marcus Beale was targeted by thieves, who took a locked box containing the secret papers. The theft was reported on May 15.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “An investigation has been launched after items were stolen from a West Midlands Police officer’s unmarked car.

“A number of personal items were taken during the theft along with a locked metal box that contained documents relating to police matters. The box was locked in the boot. “The officer remains at work.” The force refused to confirm or deny if the vehicle was Mr Beale’s.

He holds the security portfolio with responsibility for the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit.

The force’s website states that the unit’s operations “have disrupted some of the most significant UK mainland terrorist plots in recent years, including the London Stock Exchange plot in 2010”.
