I understand why many Labour supporters voted for Brexit, but the real cause of discontent has been British politics of the last 40 years encouragin­g the attitude, “They’re all the same”. They’re not now.

Labour voters who went for UKIP and Brexit must look at their prospects if they vote Tory. Look at the first real positive Labour policies put forward in decades and compare them with the continued beating down promised by the nasty party.

The response by police to the London Bridge incident was amazing. They killed the three attackers within eight minutes, but, just think, if all our police were armed it would have been immediatel­y.

Times change and we must too. If these terrorists had had guns, the death toll would have been a lot higher. Police should be given the tools they need to combat the threat that now exists.
