Boyfriend one of seven murdered
A SEX slave chained by the neck in a shipping container is released by police in shocking footage released for the first time.
Kala Brown, 30, had been held captive for two months and repeatedly raped by serial killer Todd Kohlhepp.
Kala’s boyfriend Charles Carver, 32, was murdered by Kohlhepp and buried in a shallow grave.
The couple had been lured to Kohlhepp’s 95-acre rural estate with the promise of cleaning jobs.
Ms Brown was only found by a faint mobile phone signal.
Prosecutors released the dramatic images of the rescue in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, US, after Kohlhepp, 46, had admitted seven murders.
The once-successful real estate agent pleaded guilty to the crimes to avoid the death penalty. Kohlhepp was sentenced to seven consecutive life terms plus 60 years for kidnapping, sexual assault and other charges. Inside the container police found Ms Brown sitting on a makeshift bed, wearing a long-sleeved shirt, trousers and chained to a wall. An officer assures her: “We’re getting bolt cutters, honey.” When asked where her boyfriend Charlie was she said he had been shot. She says: “Todd Kohlhepp shot Charlie Carver three times in the chest, wrapped him in a blue tarp, put him in the bucket of the tractor, locked me down here.
“I’ve never seen him again. He says he’s dead and buried. He says there are several bodies dead and buried out here.”
Ms Brown revealed Kohlhepp had raped her every day and threatened to kill her if she tried to run away.
She said: “He told me as long as I served my purpose, I was safe.
“He let me know that if I tried to run, he’d kill me. If I tried to hurt him, he’d kill me. If I fought back, he would kill me.
“And then he raped me. He would rape me twice a day, every day.” Prosecutors also released videos showing an emotionless Kohlhepp confessing to killing four workers at motorbike shop almost 15 years earlier.
He tells them: “I cleared that building in under 30 seconds.”
Amazingly he then boasts of the efficiency of his murders, saying: “I’m sorry, but you guys would have been proud.”
Kohlhepp detailed each shot he fired at the Superbike Motorshops store, including those to the forehead of Scott Ponder, 30, Beverly Guy, 52, Brian Lucas, 30, and 26-year-old Chris Sherbert.
After officers found Ms Brown they also discovered the bodies of Johnny Coxie, 29, and Leigh McCraw-Coxie, 26.
They were killed by Kohlhepp in December 2015 after they had been lured to his house with the offer of work.
Kohlhepp moved to South Carolina in 2001 after 14 years in prison for a kidnapping in Arizona.
Authorities in the state said Kohlhepp, then 15, forced a 14-year-old neighbour back to his home at gunpoint, tied her up and raped her.
