Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn’s rising popularity has inspired mums and dads to consider naming a baby after him, a poll by parenting forum ChannelMum.com found.
Corbyn rocketed 50% in desirable-name lists in 2014-15, and is expected to become even more popular after Labour’s election gains and the party leader’s appearance at Glastonbury. The name Jeremy is also back in fashion, with 15% of parents saying they would use it for a son. But only 4% would name a girl Theresa like the Prime Minister, Mrs May. ChannelMum founder Siobhan Freegard said: “Names reflect both changing fashions and our changing society. “Corbyn is the stand-out naming trend this year.”
