His killer, an Arab terrorist, was shot dead. 12 YEARS AGO (2005) Four bombs failed to go off in London just two weeks after the 7/7 suicide attacks killed 52 people. The four culprits were jailed for life. 23 YEARS AGO (1994) Tony Blair was elected leader of the Labour Party after winning 57% of the vote and beating rivals John Prescott and Margaret Beckett.
