Has the Doctor met her maths?
As Doctor Who, Jodie Whittaker is going to have to get her head around all of space and time. No mean feat.
And it could prove a bit of a challenge for the actress – who struggled at school and only got her maths GCSE at the third attempt. In an interview earlier this month, the 35-year-old admitted: “I wasn’t academic at school. I failed my maths GCSE twice and only got five GCSEs above a D.”
The Time Lord is supposed to have a doctorate in medicine, earned at some point in the 1880s at the University of Glasgow, which has been referenced several times in the programmes by different Doctors.
And recent Tardis-dwellers have been educated to university level. Peter Capaldi has a design degree from the Glasgow School of Art and Matt Smith has 9 GCSEs, 4 A levels (including psychology and drama) and a degree from the University of East Anglia.
Capaldi’s final episode of Doctor Who this Christmas will feature Pearl Mackie as Bill Potts and it will be called Twice Upon a Time.
