Family hunt Brit dad missing for a year in Alps
A FAMILY are still searching for a father who went missing in the French Alps nearly a year ago.
There has been no sighting of David Wood, 61, despite extensive hunts by police, rescue teams, his two sons, a helicopter and a drone. Wife Valerie, 69, believes he became confused and got lost after going alone on a hike from their holiday home in Marie, in the Tinee Valley, which has sheer drops, rocky patches and rivers.
She said: “Something may have happened in his head – he got some kind of amnesia or had a stroke.”
She rang him when he had been gone some time and he said he was tired and taking a rest – but never returned on August 2 last year.
Valerie said: “I know he is no longer alive but want to know what happened. We cannot mourn.”
David, a computer engineer, from Woodbridge, Suffolk, had been diagnosed with slight blood pressure but walked every day to get fit rather than take medication.
