HOLS IN NORTH BEST
How nice to read about Barbara and Dennis Johnson who have taken their holidays in Lytham St Annes for 84 years (Mirror, Aug 2).
This little gem on the Fylde coast has undergone a transformation in recent years. Always seen as posh here in the north west, it’s now attracting younger visitors with the opening of upmarket bars together with good restaurants and lovely continental-style street cafes.
Lytham is quite traditional and old fashioned in some ways but has moved on from the days of booking awful entertainers such as Bernard Manning. It’s now more likely to be Russell Kane, local girl Jenny Eclair, Omid Djalili or Nina Conti. Hopefully, it’s onwards and upwards for Lytham and a new generation of holiday-makers.
