Cheap thrills from Noel’s latest show

-

WHAT would you get if you crossed Open All Hours, Sale Of The Century and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

On paper, a mess. Or possibly Noel Edmonds’ new gameshow, Cheap Cheap Cheap.

Squares Eyes was initially baffled so we asked Noel to help us out a bit.

He explains: “I love the simplicity of Deal Or No Deal and wanted to have a game that everybody can play.

“Three items – which one is the cheapest? That’s it. Do it eight times and you win £25, 000.

“It’s so simple, there could be an explosion going off behind you and you’d still be able to play it. I have a cast of characters who work in the store and help me run the game. It’s a game show that thinks it’s a sitcom. There’s never been anything like it before.”

You can say that again, Noel. In the first episode, teams try to guess the cheapest of similar items, including beans, noodles and fabric conditioner.

There is also a strange sitcom element as Noel, in his first game show since Deal Or No Deal was axed, is joined by four staff played by actors. They are manager Barry, “health and happiness guru” Marijana, unhelpful sales assistant Kelly and handyman Keith.

Noel adds: “The contestants see through everything, they know brands are using fancy packaging to justify an extra fiver. We have everything from a tin of beans to a coffin to a duck. What other show offers the chance to win £25,000 on the price of a duck?”

Cheap Cheap Cheap starts on Channel 4 at 3pm on Monday and there are 30 hour-long episodes.
