BARK ’N RIDE Cat gets a lift ITV, 8pm
The silly title of this show belies the content – it sounds like it’s going to be a compilation of wacky YouTube clips of animals doing tricks, but in fact it’s a bit (only a bit) more sensible.
Animal lover Alexander Armstrong celebrates the hidden potential of our pets, proving they can all be internet superstars.
“People underestimate how clever they are,” says Jo-Rosie Haffenden, who co-owns an animal training school with boyfriend and fellow animal expert Nando Brown. And so we enter the pet school, where apparently it actually is possible to teach an old dog new tricks.
There’s hilarity as they try to train a miniature horse to answer a door when the bell rings.
And for some bizarre reason, an owner wants her cat River to ride (yes, ride) one of her dogs.
Everyone has their dream, I suppose.
“I don’t know anyone in the country who’s trained a cat to ride a dog yet,” ponders Jo-Rosie.
Hmm, funny that. Elsewhere, keep an eye out for Ziggy the skateboarding dog. SISTER ACT Daphne and Maddie
