Corbyn: Give MPs say on Afghan war
JEREMY Corbyn insists Parliament must have a say before more troops are sent to Afghanistan.
The Commons should not be bypassed if ministers plan an escalation in Britain’s military presence in the country, he says.
The Labour leader’s comments come after Donald Trump, in a major U-turn, announced a troop surge to defeat a resurgent Taliban and called on other Nato countries to back the US effort.
A spokesman for Mr Corbyn said: “The conduct of Britain’s military support in Afghanistan should always be accountable to Parliament.”
