HAZARD: I’M WORTH MORE THAN NEYMAR

- BY HECTOR NUNNS

CHELSEA star Eden Hazard has joked he would be worth far more than Neymar in today’s market.

The Belgium playmaker (above) scored in his first competitive match of the season in the 9-0 World Cup qualifying win over minnows Gibraltar this week.

But a transfer window that saw Premier League clubs spend £1.4billion and Paris Saint-Germain splurge £198million on Neymar drew a wry response from Hazard.

And he also took the chance to insist that despite at one time being linked with Barcelona as the Brazil star’s (below) replacement, he is happy at Stamford Bridge. Asked how much he would cost now, Hazard, 26, said: “I don’t know – maybe £265m? It all depends on the market.

“Neymar is a Brazilian, has a lot of potential, is a year younger than I am and played for Barcelona.

“A transfer fee also depends on your contract and on a number of other things. We will see how much I am worth if I ever get a transfer.

“I didn’t really think about a transfer much, although maybe it did cross my mind that I could have.

“A lot has happened this transfer window. That’s a good thing.

“Every time someone leaves a club, other players could come in to replace them. If it isn’t me, then at least it’s someone else.

“But I am feeling well at Chelsea. I have just started my sixth season here and I am enjoying myself.”

Hazard is set to return for champions Chelsea at Leicester next weekend, but admits that rough treatment in Greece tomorrow for Belgium could jeopardise his club comeback.

He sustained a serious ankle injury while away on international duty over the summer.

And he has only played 75 minutes for Chelsea’s Under-23 side so far this term, but came through that and Thursday’s international unscathed.

Hazard added: “I’m happy to have returned to the pitch for a competitive game.

“I think I’m ready to play Greece, but they’re certainly going to kick me, so it’s not ideal. The coach will decide. I just want to play football.”
