Deep-hiss fear

Boy, 5, finds 3ft snake in toilet when he lifts lid to take a wee

TO be bitten by a snake on the loo is a widespread fear, so many of us will shudder after a five-year-old Essex boy lifted up the seat to discover a python.

We bet you take an extra peek today before you go but don’t let the phobia drive you around the U-bend.

A FIVE-year-old boy got a wee shock … when he found this three-foot python in the loo.

The lad, who had been about to spend a penny, ran to his mum.

“Petrified” Laura Cowell said: “I had to use a broom handle to lift the lid, then out popped its head and its tongue came out as well.”

The toilet had been “blocked for days” but she did not know why.

It is thought the harmless baby royal python escaped when neighbours in Southend, Essex, moved.

Rob Yeldham, who owns pet shop Scales and Fangs, removed it with a hook. Mr Yeldham said: “I think the snake went down their toilet, and ended in this one, as the sewers are connected.

“It smelt of bleach and a bit toilet-y,” added Ethan Pinion from Scales and Fangs.

Although it had scale rot, probably from bleach, the otherwise healthy reptile is expected to recover fully. It will be rehomed.

An EasyJet flight from Paris to Glasgow was delayed overnight after a passenger saw a scorpion. The plane is to be fumigated.
