WINSTON CAN TAKE CHARGE

- BY DAVE MITCHELL

WINSTON C can complement Churchill by instigating a double for fans of the great British hero during the afternoon.

While the 2,000 Guineas hero struts his stuff in the Irish Champion Stakes at the Curragh, WINSTON C steps up in trip to take on nine rivals at Haydock.

He ran his usual honest race when just out of the money at York last time in a contest won by Secret Advisor.

Prior to that, Michael Bell’s colt showed a liking for cut in the ground when a fine third to today’s Ascot hope Londinium at Goodwood — conditions that will suit him well today.

He’s still on the same kind of mark here and is of bigger than normal interest.
