FEARS FOR HIS JOB... PALACE COULD TURN TO HODGSON

Burnley Crystal Palace

FRANK DE BOER has no idea if he will survive as Palace manager with former England chief Roy Hodgson the favourite to take over.

De Boer (right) knows his job is hanging by a thread after yesterday’s loss at Burnley. Palace are the first top-flight side in 93 years to lose their first four games without scoring.

Eagles chairman Steve Parish is reluctant to wield the axe so quickly but is likely to get rid

FROM BACK PAGE of De Boer as soon as they can get a replacement – with Hodgson the front runner.

When asked if he feared the worst, De Boer said: “I don’t know. I just focus on what I can control and think about our next match, with Southampton. That is all I can do.

“What other people think, they have to decide, but while I’m still the manager of Palace, I will give 100 per cent.”

De Boer had hoped an improved performance at Burnley would earn him a reprieve but it looks just a matter of time.

Overtures have been made to Sam Allardyce but he is reluctant to return to the club just four months after quitting.

That leaves Hodgson in the frame with the ex-England boss, 70, keen to get back into management.

Hodgson has turned down job offers from abroad – including China – but would want the right job back in England.

Palace missed a number of chances to score yesterday with Scott Dann heading wide from just three yards out.

“Everybody in this room also can’t believe we didn’t score,” added De Boer.

“We gave a very sloppy goal away, but then we straightened our back.”
