LESS STRESS HELPS FLINT FIRE ROBINS

-

ADEN FLINT believes he has come out the right side of a “stressful” month after scoring the winner on his return for Bristol City.

The experienced defender, 28, made his first league start of the season for the Robins after being withdrawn from the firing line after transfer speculation became too heavy.

Flint (above, centre) was linked with a number of clubs, including Birmingham, but is staying at Bristol City.

And he responded by netting the 84th-minute winner to get the better of Reading.

Flint said: “It’s been a stressful few months, with everything being up in the air.

“There has been a lot of interest, which is flattering. But I’ve just got my head down and worked hard.

“Some other people might have chosen not to speak to me, but the gaffer has been great throughout, keeping me informed of what was going on.

“I’ve done my extras when I haven’t been involved, to keep my fitness up, just in case I was needed. I want to be out there playing, but it was still nice seeing the boys doing well when you are sat at home.

“We’ve started the season really well – the team has been flying. It’s nice to come back, get the win and the vital goal as well.

“The fans were singing my name again, which was nice.”

Reading gave a debut to former Wolves man Dave Edwards and he said: “We need to kill teams off. Hopefully, we can just get the ball in the back of the net next week.”
