LEGACY OF A TRAGEDY
Ben Rossington’s article on how 20 Grenfell survivors had attempted suicide really moved me (Sept 6).
Silence of Suicide founder Yvonne Greenway explained how many survivors couldn’t get images of the burning tower out of their mind and that there were many instances of PTSD, depression, selfharm, and alcohol and drug dependency.
My fear is that with ongoing austerity, the survivors will struggle to get the help they need.

For this Conservative Government not to guarantee that British steel will be used to build the new Royal Navy ships (Mirror, Sept 6) is nothing short of criminal.
It could be a significant boost to the steel industry, which is much needed.
Let’s have British jobs for British workers.

I read with disgust about the 60,000 signatures against the Llandovery sheep race and campaigners protesting that using animals for entertainment “takes us back to the Dark Ages” (Daily Mirror, Sept 7).
May I point out that these sheep are not ridden and whipped to force them to run faster in a race to the finish.
If these 60,000 people want to object about using animals for entertainment then why don’t they object to horseracing?
