Juncker: UK will regret quitting EU
BREXIT will haunt the UK, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker claimed yesterday.
He told the European Parliament: “This will be a very sad and tragic moment in our history. We will always regret this.”
Turning to the UK’s MEPs, he added: “And I think that you will regret it as well soon, if I might say.”
But Mr Juncker declared the “wind is back in Europe’s sails” as Britain heads for the exit door.
He called for a wider passport-free Schengen zone, a beefed-up banking union and a European Defence Union.
But he ruled out Turkey joining the bloc for the foreseeable future – dismissing a key claim in last year’s Leave campaign.
