EASYJET BID FOR PLANES
EasyJet has joined rivals in bidding to buy pieces of bankrupt rival Air Berlin. The Luton-based budget airline confirmed it had “submitted a proposal”, with reports that it is interested in up to 40 Air Berlin planes. Lufthansa, Germany’s biggest airline, was among others to put in bids ahead of the deadline yesterday. Air Berlin filed for bankruptcy last month after major shareholder Ethiad Airways pulled funding following years of losses.
