SKUSE HAS IPSWICH IN SHIPSHAPE

- BY DEREK DAVIS

DOMINIC IORFA believes learning life lessons away from football will aid Ipswich’s promotion push.

Goals from Cole Skuse and David McGoldrick (above) sunk Bolton after a day out with the RNLI buoyed the Blues.

Midfielder Skuse was one of the Town players who went out with the lifeboat crew and it inspired him to score only his second Ipswich goal in 176 appearances.

Little wonder he was chosen for a drugs test!

“Cole only said good things about the experience with the RNLI,” said Wolves loanee Iorfa, who also went close. “Those sorts of things are an eye opener for footballers. Football is all we know, so it is good to see other things going on in life. It can only help us in what we want to achieve.

“Skusey saved us with his goal. It took a big defection but it went in, and that changed everything.”

Defender Iorfa was instrumental in Town keeping a clean sheet but said goals are also on his mind after seeing McGoldrick follow up his assist for Skuse with a classy strike of his own.

Iorfa said: “I want to add goals to my game so I’m working on that. I’m getting into positions but not finishing. I should take lessons off Didzy, he is a seasoned veteran and is brilliant at taking goals.

“That’s what he is all about. His effort today was brilliant.”

Bolton’s Jem Karanca could not hide his frustration after his side had bossed the first half.

“As the skipper it really hurts when we get beat in a game like this,” he said.
