Lewis sad at end of ‘toughest’ race
LEWIS HAMILTON says Formula One will lose its toughest race when the final Malaysian GP takes place on Sunday.
“It is sad to think this is the last race,” said the three times World Champion.
“It’s the most challenging for the car and the team, so they are taking away one of the toughest – if not the toughest – Grand Prix of the season.”
Some drivers liken the race to sitting in a sauna while wearing overalls as cockpit temperatures approach 50C.
Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Razak said that declining ticket sales, viewing figures and tourism were behind the decision to end the contract a year early.
Frenchman Pierre Gasly, 21, will make his F1 debut with Toro Rosso at the weekend, due to the poor performances of the team’s Russian driver Daniil Kvyat.
