WORLD AT HIS FEED

Kane is ready to serve up a diet of success for Three Lions after revealing he has recruited a chef to keep him fresh and hungry for goals

HARRY KANE is dining out on a diet of goals.

But the England striker revealed he has hired a personal chef to make sure he stays in peak condition and never suffers a goal famine.

And he insisted it has made the world of difference in keeping him fresh amid a hectic fixture list and with the World Cup finals clock ticking.

“I have a chef at home to eat the right food, helping recovery,” said Kane, who has scored 11 times in his last six appearances.

“You can’t train as hard as you’d like when you have so many games, so you have to make the little gains elsewhere, like with food.

“That will help me going into a tournament year, with my body and my recovery. I started doing that on January 1, a New Year’s resolution.

“I met the guy in December. I’d rather not say his name. He wasn’t a Spurs fan. He is now.

“He’s there every day, Monday to Saturday, and leaves it in the fridge for Sunday. I hardly ever see him because I’m at training, but he’ll cook the food and leave it in the fridge. We’ve a good plan going and it seems to be working.

“I’ve changed a lot off the pitch with the nutrition side of it. It kind of clicked in my head that a football career is so short. It goes so quickly you have to make every day count.”

Kane, 24, admits his guilty pleasure is “apple crumble” and that is about as wild as it gets for the Tottenham star. There is no chance of him burning the candle at both ends, and he does not drink during the season.

While Sergio Aguero flew to Amsterdam on his day off to go to a concert – and was left with a broken rib when his taxi crashed – Kane is happy to stay at home with his fiancée Kate and their baby. “Of course when you’re playing Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday there’s not a lot of time to train, so it’s about making those little gains in other ways: ice baths, stretching, nutrition . . that keeps as you as fresh as you can be,” he said. “It’s a big part of football nowadays. Other players are doing the same thing. My career has gone so quick already, I want to make the most of it.” Kane admitted he would not have

done what Aguero did – “every person is different” – adding: “I can’t say whether it was right or wrong. It was unfortunate.”

Kane will captain England against Slovenia and it is easy to see why he is likely to have the job next summer in Russia. He is focused, a great role model and always thinking about how he can improve as a player.

Former Three Lions captain Alan Shearer – a player Kane looks up to – visited St George’s Park on Tuesday and gave a pep talk to the squad. Kane stressed he was “very happy” at Spurs when quizzed on claims Real Madrid might bid for him.

Asked about his chance of beating Shearer’s record of 260 Premier League goals, he said: “He carried on doing it for years and years. It’s not something I think about.

“I’m still only on 84 goals or so in the Premier League. A lot can happen.

“Each season I say it would be great to get to that 100 club and go on from there.”
