YOUR SHOUT

Fiona, I couldn’t agree more with your comments on thinshaming. I’ve always been a size 8-10 and have lost count of how many people have commented how ‘skinny’ I am, even asking me if I eat! Well, yes I do. I have a healthy diet and don’t stuff myself with fast food and sugary drinks.

Like the Duchess of Cambridge I had a small bump when pregnant but gave birth to a healthy 7lb 8oz baby boy who’s now 19 and over six feet tall. When people make comments I’ve been tempted to respond they should eat less as they’re too fat. I’d probably be accused of bullying, though. Caroline, London

Fiona, I’m 5ft 4ins. I weigh 12st. I’m fat. I wish people would have the guts to tell me that to my face. It might shame me into finally doing something about it. Anna Butler, via e-mail

Fiona, we are our own worst enemies in regards to the NHS. We drink, smoke, have foreign holidays, meals out, run two cars, pay people to clean them, buy convenience foods etc.

If the Government raised NHS contributions by the price of a pint a week in exchange for a far better service, no doubt there would be an outcry. I’m retired, but would be happy to pay this rather than having to queue at 8am in the hope of getting a GP appointment. People’s priorities are all wrong these days. Love your column, D Turner, Hull FP: Yep, the NHS is precious, David. What would we do if Jeremy Hunt fulfils his mission to destroy it?
