THE RESOMATOR: HOW IT WORKS
Bodies are loaded into a torpedo-like tube before the machine calculates how much potassium hydroxide and water is needed.
The pressurised tank is then filled with this alkaline solution and heated to 152C.
The intense heat dissolves tissue in just three hours, allowing the tank to be drained.
Bones, teeth and other objects, including dental and surgical metal, are then rinsed at 120C and sorted.
Once the liquid has cooled and its pH level has been tested, it is emptied down the drain into the water network.
